Special Wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving
With Love and Gratitude from the LAAR family to Yours

When we gather together this Thanksgiving, let's also celebrate souls on this earth that have made a difference in our lives, our dogs. As each of you gives thanks this season, you may want to remember those who may not be seated at the table, but under the table.
I give thanks to my dogs for their undying pledge of loyalty. They would follow me to the ends of the earth, at least all over the house and yard.
I give thanks for their courage in the face of real danger or unknown squeaky toys.
I give thanks for their sense of humors, their silliness and ability to make us smile or laugh out loud in the face of a bad day at work or grumpiness.
I give thanks for their life, their unconditional love, their joy and happiness they share with us each day;
the warmth of the feeling I get from looking into their soulful eyes.
I give thanks for the sadness I feel for the lives they had before because it gives me the resolve to help more.
I give thanks for their spirits, bent but not broken from an unknown life in mills, shelters and the streets. Scarred, but not broken.
I give thanks for their resiliency, their healing has been ours.
And I give thanks to them for loving us, and not judging us for being the wrong breed. Human.
It doesn't matter what we believe in or what our ethnic background may be or what kind of car we drive. It doesn't matter what kind of dog we own, either.
Just like Thanksgiving, our love of our dogs unites us.
Big or small, a shelter dog or a mill dog. Mixed Breeds, Yorkies, Papillons, Dachshunds, Poodles, Chihuahuas, or Pugs. We love our dogs, and if we stop to think, we know that our dogs have given us so much for which we are grateful.
When we sit down at the table this year, with family and friends, I will count our blessings. I will think of all of the things we have to be grateful for, large and small. And as we go around the table, each of us will speak aloud the reasons for which we gather and give thanks. Our Thanksgiving Blessings will always include our dogs as they have made our lives so much richer. They have made me a much better person each and every day.
I give thanks to all my dogs that walk beside me in spirit for they made me start fighting for their lives.
I give thanks to the rescues, the shelters and the people who have brought my dogs into my life. My dogs will forever be in my heart.
I give thanks to my dogs for bringing so many people
into my life, some briefly, some forever and those that were taken from us all too soon.
So to all of you, we send you special wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving. And to the special dogs in your lives, love and blessings from the heart.

The Sidewalk and Other Tails

Did you ever wonder what happens on the Petco sidewalk or at any of the other events in which we participate? Miracles take place. We meet new friends, greet old friends, and find loving forever homes for our angels. Take a look at the video to see some happy endings and new beginnings.

Look Who's Found a Home
We received so many happy stories over the last few months we just had to share them all.  Thank you for letting us know how much all of the little angels are loved.

Niko formerly Garvey has a new family.  His mom writes, " Niko (Garvey) is doing wonderful. His eyesight has improved immensly as has his tear production. He's happy and healthy. Thank you so much for allowing us to have one another.  "

Beau formerly Cotton has a great home. According to his mom, "We have officially changed his name to Beau...not sure if he understands that yet but we are getting there. So far he's been an almost perfect puppy! He's great at night and doing really well with the potty training. He doesn't quite understand or like the leash or the crate yet but we're being patient. He's eating well and is a ton of fun to play with! VERY hyper but we love it."

Onyx
has found a happy home.  Her mom writes, "These are pictures of our new family member "Onyx" with my daughter Marina or myself Robin...You can tell she is adored!! "

Brooklyn
is doing very well according to her mom.  "thank you so much!!! she is so incredibly awesome and fits in perfect!! Sirius is having a hard tim adjusting, but after a quick round of playtime, they are getting along better. She is just darling and her manners are wonderful. I am so thankful, she was meant for us!! She loves the grass and runs with the kids, chases a ball and plays tug of war with the rope. She is very clingy and follows one of us around when she is awake. We are so happy!!" In fact, Tiana loves Brooklyn so much that for her birthday she asked guests to bring gifts for Brooklyn instead of herself.

Mercy and Dimitre are doing great. According to their mom, "Well a great week. Dimitre and Mercy are laying beside me on the couch sleeping, Mercy is lying on his side, feet pointed toward me and Dimitre is laying on his side right with his back leg over Mercy. Things have become very normal. We wake up go out, eat, walk, play, sleep, eat some more, play some more, etc. but Dimitre still finds something cute to do. Remember that ugly purple toy he picked when he first arrived at the house, well that is the only toy he will play with including the tiger. He even sleeps with it sometimes. Sometimes when Dimitre wants up on the couch, he will get his toy and put it on the couch and stand there with his front legs on the couch until I pick him up and put him there. Sometimes he wants to play and sometimes he just lays down with it. I guess that is his teddy bear. He is my teddy bear and the ugly purple toy is his. Did you ever notice Mercy's smile. I was sitting on the couch, he was sleeping and I started scratching his belly and his mouth went up into a smile. Only happened once but it was sweet. Love from all. "

Yoshi's mom tells us, "Just want to let you know Yoshie & I are doing great. He has lost a little weight, now at 10 lbs 13 oz. His lungs have cleared up, he does have cataracts, which I suspected but not mature. He does play with me. He loves all his new neighbors & they love him. He is doing very well adapting to his new surroundings, does not like loud noises, thinks someone is coming to get us all the time. Gets all puffed up & barks, I have to go open the front door & show him no one is there. He is just the sweetest, cutest little thing. "

Diva is happy in her new home with new brother Zeke. Her mom tells us, "Everything is going well with Diva and her new home here. Zeke and Diva are getting to know each other; and there have been a few growls here and there; and I think they will be just fine together. Zeke has to get used to Diva always wanting to play; and Monday Diva was chasing Zeke around the yard like gangbusters! It was so cute, and Zeke was doing his best to 'fake her out' and turning and twisting. They are both so fast!"

Bailey
is doing well in his new home.  "He is pictured here with his family Barney, Bear, Bandit and Yogi. Barney and Bear are also Lost Angels rescues. "They all know their names and have become real buddies, except Bailey, who rules them all." We love repeat adoptions.

Ace was originally adopted by this family's neighbor but was not well received by their golden retriever. The neighbor knew Ace's new family had recently lost their fantastic hairy friend Butch, a German Shepherd who lived almost 13 years. Ace's mom wrote to tell us, "He is doing very well. He eats plenty of food and is very happy here. Thanks for rescuing him!" Ace included a comment about this picture, "Someone put a new dog in this house... there is only room for me here. All the love has to be for me... no sharing please!"

Kai's family sent us a note, "My boyfriend Erik and I recently adopted our puppy Kai (Keegan) from you. I just wanted to say thank you again!! He is doing great, and growing more everyday. Its a great thing the way you help find dogs safe and happy homes and we can't say thank you enough." Doesn't this remind you of a PetSmart commercial?

Baxter's new mom wrote, "Baxter has been great, adjusting really well to his new home. He is a love, his personality has just come out since I brought him home, and he loves to give kisses. We are working on socializing with other dogs. He will do a little grrr, we will get there. He has made me very happy, and I just love him. We have already taken tons of pictures. I can't wait for the rest of my family to meet him next week. Thanks for everything."

We recently received an update on Buddy. "We think you are the greatest organization. The attached photo is of Buddy, who was named Brutus when you picked him up. We adopted Buddy in January 2006, after my sister Debbie had adopted Polly. Polly and Buddy have become the greatest friends and love to play together when we have the chance to get together. My brother just adopted another Lost Angel, named Killian. Buddy has brought so much joy to our family, we cannot imagine being without him. Our only regret is that we can't take home more of them. We just wanted you to know how much we appreciate your hard work."  Wow - this is truly a Lost Angels family!

We heard from Jack's new family.  " We adopted Jack (black and white cockapoo) then 8 months later went to a family's house who wanted to give away their chocolate cockapoo Skittles. We moved now to Virginia with the dogs and they are doing great! They love to play with each other and sleep together in the laundry room all cozy up. I work from home so I know they appreciate all the attention I give them all day long!! I am really happy that we kept Skittles, she's been great, even though sometimes she's a trouble maker. They are definitely very happy, loved and well fed (Skittles love to eat)! "

Sparkle sent us a very happy note about his family. "I just wanted to say thank you for all you have done for me - you saved my life. I thought you might enjoy hearing about my first day and night with my new parents Linda & Bill ( I will be calling them Mommy and Daddy). After we left you at Petco we went over to Billy and Denise's house (That is their son and his wife’s house). I really enjoyed the ride and rode on Mommy's lap almost all the way there. Billy and Denise are pretty neat and have a great house to visit and play at. They also had Mommy and Daddy’s grandson (age 13) visiting and he was great! He played with me almost the whole time we visited. He said he would like to have a puppy just like me. I also got to meet Mommy and Daddy's other two "Grandchildren" - Molly and Shadow. You won't believe this but they are cats. Molly was kind of put out that I came over, but Shadow was really fun and we played together really well. I would chase him and then he would chase me. We didn't get real rowdy since it was our first visit together and we didn’t want to upset Molly any more than she already was, but we shared toys and had a wonderful time together. After our visit we headed for my new home. We stopped at Wal-Mart before we got home and I got a new metal crate, some padding, a few more toys, some chew sticks, and a few other things. Mommy went inside and I slept on Daddy’s lap while we waited. Then we finally arrived home! It is terrific. I have been exploring and checking out every hiding place in the apartment. Guess where I slept last night!? I slept on the big bed right between Mommy and Daddy. Every once in awhile during the night I would think of my Brother and Sister and look at Mommy or Daddy then I could go back asleep. So far I am doing very well and think I am going to like this new family just fine. Thanks again for helping me get adopted by Linda and Bill we are going to be very happy together. "

"Kip settled in and became part of the family pretty much as soon as he walked into the house…. He is a sweet and playful dog. He and Buddy have been alternating between wrestling and then sleeping in their dog bed together most of the afternoon. Hailey growls at them and rolls her eyes …. Boys! " Kip is one of three repeat adoptions from Lost Angels. What a great family.

Chase has a new home. His family dropped us a note to say, "He was so good overnight. We are so happy. Thank you again. "

" Tallulah Belle is doing great, she is a wonderful dog! "

Lucy is obviously doing well, pictured here with her family.  "Attached is a picture where I caught them all taking a power snooze. Good thing we have a couch big enough for them all!! After all, it's all about them, right?" We had to chuckle when we saw this; it's clearly a pet friendly home. How many items can you spot (no pun intended)? Not one but two tennis balls, a dog book, and is that dog shampoo on the table? Look for Lucy on top of the sofa with one of her little pals. What a fantastic home for these lucky angels.

Yoda was adopted in July and his family is very happy to have him. "We changed Joey's name to Yoda -- obviously because of the ears. We just wanted to let you know that he is doing great. We are very happy, and he seems to enjoy having us around, too. He is very well behaved - best puppy either my husband and I have ever had!! He is now 17 lbs and continues to grow. He loves to be out in the yard! Sits and watches the neighbors (both humans and animals). He sticks his nose as far into the grass as he can, too, and I'm sure breathes in soil, bugs and all, as evidenced by him sneezing several times afterwards. He also likes to go to the doggie parks, and definitely prefers to play with the big dogs. We are now on the lookout for a brother or sister for him, so don't be surprised if you see us at PetCo. Thank you so much for taking care of him and letting us give him a good home!!"

Here's a picture of Cookie from her new family.

"We adopted Cookie not long ago and I wanted to tell you she is doing GREAT."

Here's another happy girl. "Here is a picture of Miss Lucy and her big sister Isabella! She is very happy and I love her so much , she is such a sweetheart. Her big brother Bear loves her too! Thank you for all the good you are doing.!!!! "

There are so many wonderful stories we love to share, and this is no exception. Tessa and Yvette were fosters together. They bonded so quickly they just had to be adopted together, and that's exactly what happened. We couldn't resist sharing this Halloween picture of the girls. Yvette got a haircut just for the occasion. "The groomer said she was so sweet! Of course, we already knew that. And Tessa is as sweet as ever, too. "

Simon
has a home.  His mom writes, "Simon did pretty well the rest of the weekend. He was very sweet this morning sleeping quietly in a dog bed next to me while I got ready for work. And he did great on our walk! There is a young female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that he has taken a liking to and we saw her for the second time this morning. She sniffed him all over and he was just fine. We visited for a while and he seemed sad to see her go. I think Simon’s got a girlfriend. "

Chili formerly Tipsy is adjusting well to his new home. His mom sent us several pictures of his favorite nap position! He sure is a lucky little dog.

Winston's mom followed up with us after his recent adoption. "As promised, here are photos of a very spoiled Winston. Neither Winston nor I could have ended up in a better situation. This is a happily ever after dog and new Mom. So, what do you think? He has beefed up and is beautiful!! Just as you said!"

We’ve heard from Willow's new family that she’s well loved. "Thank you so much for bringing Willow into our lives....we absolutely love her! The first day she was with us we could tell she was very sad (missing Mommy Val), however she seems to be adjusting well and is getting more comfortable by the hour. She's still doing very well with Angel also! She's quite the character too. She won't eat or drink in front of us! Her food/water dish is in the kitchen next to her cage and if anyone is in the kitchen she will go lay in her cage until they leave, and then she will come out and eat. I'm trying to find the perfect pink collar for her but that's just for accessory! We will keep the chain on her since we think it will be easier for us to walk her with that. We will definitely keep in touch and share some pics with you!"

This wonderful lady called on this dog a week before she arrived. She stated that her own dog was very old and she knew the time was near. Maggie the dog she wanted to adopt had not yet arrived from Alabama and it would be another week. Sadly her dog passed away the day the Maggie arrived. She could not come and pick her up fast enough as she feels that it was her gift from her dog that passed away. She wrote to let us know how she and Maggie are doing. "I want to thank your organization for all the loving angels you are saving and bringing to us lost people. I picked Maggie up today and as you can see - it IS a match made in heaven as Abbey is watching over us both from above! Our whole family is so happy - she is such a delight! P.S. Don't you think she looks just like me?!!!"

Ben's new mom wrote, "He is really great. He has a wonderful temperament and is so much fun. He's eating and drinking well; having good poops. (Ha Ha) We've been taking him on numerous walks in the neighborhood and around the park. He loves to explore! He's sleeping great with the girls and doesn't wake up until it's time. I'll send you some photos. Amy, thanks so much for being such a wonderful foster Mom. He sure was blessed to have you."

Molly's new family sent us some pics although "Molly is scared of the camera!" No problem, it's all good news for the little girl and she's got a new sister to play with.

To our great pleasure, Calista bounced back and was recently adopted. Look how beautiful and happy she is with her family.

Her new mom writes, "I wanted to thank you again for assisting us with the adoption of Calista (who we are calling Callie for short). My Paris is so happy she has a new sister and just can't get enough of Callie. And, I must say, Callie can sure hold her own with Paris. It is great to see them together and and I know we will all be one very happy family. A family of all girls is great." Because of all of you, another angel is healthy and enjoying her forever home.
