Training Done Right
John gazed into her big brown eyes. Will she care for me as I do her? Will she enjoy the same things and want to spend time with me, he wondered. No, this is not the beginning of a romance novel. It's about establishing a long and wonderful relationship between you and your pet.
It requires, as Jeff Drier with Bark Busters, so eloquently puts it, "mutual trust, respect and understanding." Jeff has been kind enough to allow us to share his most recent newsletter about Relationships in this edition.
"Bark Busters is the world's largest, most trusted Home Dog Training company. Their mission is to promote clear and open communication between owners and their dogs using simple and effective training methods that appeal to the canine psyche." For more information, contact Jeff at 877-500-BARK (2275) or

Look Who's Found a Home
We received so many happy stories over the last few months we just had to share them all. Thank you for letting us know how much all of the little angels are loved.
Grady has a new family. His mom writes, "He is doing great!! He still has some seperation anxiety issues when I leave the house but otherwise he is doing wonderful. My other dog, Scooter and Grady are a great team and keep other company. Grady is doing fine with 3 legs and moves as fast as any 4 legged dog.
I am making a donation via mail in memory of my sister's cat that just passed. Thanks for bringing Grady into our lives!! "
Geneva has a great home and a new brother named Simba. According to her mom, "We fell in love with Geneva at first sight. We are happy to report that she is all and more than we could have hoped for in a family member. She slept in our bed last night, asked to go potty, and so far is absolutely attached to our family. She came to work with her new crested brother and had a blast even though she does not want her own doggy bed! We love her!"
Moe has found a happy home. His mom writes, "After a stop at Petco to load up on supplies, we went home and he met Teddy. His little tail started wagging as soon as they saw each other. There was a lot of sniffing but no agression on either side. Teddy did not even care when Moe stole his favorite blanket! Moe has been very sleepy (as you can see from the attached pictures) and I've been letting him rest and recooperate. He ate about a half a can of soft food, but he's not drinking very much water. He has gone potty for me twice outside (once last night and once early this morning) and he did not mess in the kennel that he slept in last night! He really does not like being on a leash - he will fight it as soon as he feels tension. I have been letting him lead the way with the leash on so he can get used to it. He loves to cuddle up on anything soft, including piles of laundry :). He's a little skiddish if you try to pick him up, but he will let you pet him if you carefully lie down next to him while he's sleeping. I'm sure he's been through alot and it is just going to take some time for him to trust us! "
Kahlua is doing VERY WELL , according to her mom. "She is wonderful! Our dog Scooby accepted her from the first time. She bosses him around and he lets her do that! They are playing all day running in our back yard or in the house. She is a little devil but we love her very much and are very happy she is with us. ;
Joey and Mitzi are doing great. According to their family, "They are both doing very well in our home. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect pair. They adjusted so easily and are a pure pleasure to have around! Joey is very attached to both of us and is also a great little guard dog. Mitzi is pretty laid back but gets very excited when someone is in the kitchen. They both get to sleep with us once in a while, which they enjoy. Thanks for helping us find these two little treasures!
"
Toby's mom tells us, "Many, Many, thanks for our new addition to our family! Everybody has fallen in love with this sweet little boy! I thought you might like to see him in action. He loves to talk to the Cat...Cat doesn't want to speak to him! It is hysterical to watch. He loves his yard and long walks in the evening and seeing his new friends, and most of all the cuddle time with his new mom or dad. He has settled in extremely well...almost like he has always been here! Toby is very well behaved, and very smart! He spends time watching the Squirrels out of the sunroom windows and playing with his people and his new toys. He loves all of the new treats he has tried and all the attention he receives, best of all he loves his morning romps in the "big bed" Thanks for this wonderful organization of yours! I will continue to tell everyone about your wonderful rescue group and Toby Too will also."
Pokey is happy in his new home. We are told he is doing really well. He has put on some weight and has learned to sniff and walk on a leash; he is actually starting to run and play with his new siblings. He is also learning to trust his new mom and gave her a kiss for the first time. She renamed him Pokey as he was very shy and slow moving when she first brought him home but he is definitely stepping up the pace. Let's hear it for another success story.

Riley is doing well in his new home . "Thanks so much for the service you provide and saving our boy!
He's been a great addition. If you could show Riley's "foster mom" how well he's doing. He's 47 pounds now, but his growing seems to have slowed. He's still great with people, children, and other pets. In fact the only problem he seems to have is controlling himself when greeting others. Thanks again. "
Kaylee's family tells us, "Our baby is doing great! She's very spoiled! All our babies get along great now. The cats have adjusted well. Sid and Kaylee play like little kids, chasing each other around the house, teasing each other with their bones, and wrestling. They are too cute together."
Buc's family recently sent us a note, "He is the best little puppy and so smart! He's learned all his basic commands and even a few tricks. He gets along well with everyone and enjoys running around with the other dogs at the paw park in my neighborhood. He absolutely loves the water too! I've taken him to Fort Desoto twice and he also likes to cool off in the many lakes around my neighborhood. I keep a very close eye on him because I know there are a few gators swimming around.I took him to Animal Health Clinic in Lakewood Ranch - everyone there adored him and the doctor said he was in excellent condition. Thanks again!"
Tessa and Yvette are really doing well. "They are absolutely the best little girls. We are enjoying them so much!! They have settled into their little routines and get so excited every day when Jim comes home from work and then they EXPECT their nightly walks, especially Yvette! It's been so hot and muggy lately, so they walk for a while and then we carry them for a while so they don't get to overheated. What a life...it's not very hard to love and spoil them!"
CORRECTION: Lovie is looking for her forever home! Can you help?
This little guy hit the jackpot with his new family. " Thank you so much for taking Spanky from the Kill Shelter and bringing him home to have a second chance. We are so much in love with him and I do believe he with us. He is totally enjoying all of the love and attention he is receiving. He will never replace our beloved Dudley but he is rapidly filling the void he left behind."
This was a little pup found in the Teco parking lot. His family writes, "Teco is a wonderful dog with a great personality. He has not gotten very big so we have registered him in agility classes. He is so loving and has been a perfect fit to our family. Love to all the lost angels in your care, I wish I could adopt them all.
"

"She is doing wonderful. We just Love her. Misty does well on the leash, no accidents in the house, sleeps out of the cage now, she is just wonderful. Everyone that meets her loves her. She isn't too keen when she first meets a new person or dog but warms up quickly. Wanted you to know we are thoroughly enjoying her. Thank you so much for the wonderful job of aiding Lost Angels Animal Rescue to save these pets."
Daisy's family writes, "She is the sweetest little thing. VERY destructive though. She has chewed up a living room chair, two pair of shoes, phone book, markers, password book (that was NOT good) and various other things. BUT SHE IS SOOO CUTE! I hired a trainer who works with deaf dogs. She is working w/ both Daisy and Dyva. Daisy can sit, she almost understands down. We are working on housebreaking because she is a MESS. THANK YOU AGAIN. We adore her."

"Thank you so much for all you do for all of the animals. We just wanted to send a picture of Jack. He is now a little over 2 1/2 years old and the joy of our lives. Every day we look at his adorable face and his cute little body we love him more. Jack is such a gift to us. We are so glad we found him on your site. Thanks for rescuing him from animal services. He is a wonderful little guy. Thanks again."
Here's a picture of Bella with her new brother Clyde! Don't they look great together?

Annie is doing well with her family. "I just wanted to let everyone know that since we have adopted Coco back on Thanksgiving Day, 2006, we have changed her name to Annie and she is doing wonderful. She has gained weight and gets along with her brother Buddy (also a chihuahua). She has such a sweet disposition and makes us laugh. What more could you ask for. "
Here’s another fantastic story. "I recently adopted Rainey, she was known by Lost Angels as (Raine)
Rainey is a 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier who I found thru 1-800-save-a-pet.com
I contacted her foster mother Desiree In Tampa, FL. and I found out that Rainey had a rough past and had been left behind by her owners, in fact this was her second time being received by Lost Angels.
When I first brought Rainey home she was 14 lbs very skinny and had lost most of her hair and had a skin condition, even though she was soo small and she looked so tired she still has such a happy out look on life, She now lives with me and my sister and her new brother
Rocko a 3 year old Jack Russell Terrier, She made sure she let him know who was boss from the get go! Rocko and Rainey play constantly. She is also a little piggy she is ALWAYS HUNGRY! she has gained 3 pounds and is now 17lbs and has grown all of her hair back. I know she is happy to finally have a home she is such a wonderful companion, she loves to follow me everywhere, in the morning when I am getting ready for work she watches me and follows me from room to room, and when I am cleaning she is right there,
it is also soo funny how vocal she is, if she doesn't like some thing she will let you know. Every morning I wake up and there she is waiting to start a new day! I want to thank Lost Angels and also thank Desiree for being a voice and Guardian for those innocent Angels who don't have a chance on their own."

L.A. "who I adopted in December of last year is doing fine. He is a big sweet heart...unless he has a rawhide bone. Then watch out! He gets vicious instantly! Solution....NO RAWHIDE BONES!!! I love him dearly and he sleeps with me most nights."
Lucy was recently adopted and we are happy to hear she’s doing so well. Her mom tells us, “Things are going great here. I bought Lucy 2 little beddies, one for thefamily room and one for the bedroom. She loves them, as you can see. Shewill get an oatmeal bath today. And she doesn't let me out of her sight! She and Aubrey play and play, then nap. She is so funny, what a little personality! "

Tia is happy in her new home. Her family writes, "Thanks very much to Lost Angels. I was able to find another baby when my beloved Tasha passed! Her name is Tia, a beautiful developed german shepherd!!!"
Jack is adjusting well to his new home. "He is an
absolute love and totally is enjoying his new home. He enjoyed his
first (?) plane trip north with us and basically just wants to be held
and loved. His one goal is to be where we are, and if he can see us,
and he's not, he makes the funniest sounding barks! Jack and I are
working on his attack dog mode when I try to take something from him.
Evidenced by several piercings of my hands. I will win that struggle.
Everyone who does meet Jack though, has declared him a wonderful, fun
dog, and he has even convinced several of my friends to look into
rescuing a "baby".”
"Winston might be the best kept secret that was found in the kill shelter. He's smart, house broken, obedient, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I only hope my friends follow my lead and contact you to save a pet in the future. Job well done, ladies. I'm going to put in a good word for you with my friend and make certain you get continued t.v. time in the morning hours." Lost Angels thanks you for adopting this little angel.

We’ve heard from Bella Dulcie's new family that she’s well loved. Her foster mom, Joan, recently visited with her. What a happy reunion!

With Memories of Love
Our wonderful little Chloe went to be with the angels at the rainbow bridge. She was loved before she left this world and for that we are thankful. Her mom shared this with us, "At 11:13 tonight, 7/11/07 my precious Chloe drew her last breath. She fought a hard battle, but her little body just gave out. It was apparent last night that her battle would be over soon and she spent today in my arms knowing she was loved. I will miss that funny looking little girl so much who had a look that only a mother could love!!! The "Cloister" is at peace.."
The rainbow bridge has one more of our little angels.

A special thank you to Robert and Peter who within 15 minutes of our request going out responded with a donation. Because of Robert, Peter and all of you, another angel is healthy and ready for a loving forever home.
