Giving Up Your Pet

There are circumstances when a dog must leave its life-long home: when an owner becomes physically unable to care for a dog or when a dog has shown unprovoked aggression. Other reasons we hear are:

the dog won't listen
we can't housetrain the dog
the dog chews
we're moving and can't have a dog anymore
no one takes care of the dog but me
the dog is alone too much
the dog growled/snapped at my child/me
the dog barks too much

If you think you need to surrender your pet or have found a stray who needs a home, complete our Owner Surrender Form to submit your request. We will then contact you and ask several questions to evaluate your situation. Our evaluation depends greatly on your reasons for surrender as well as your dog's temperament and health. If we agree to take your pet, we will then quote a surrender fee and schedule a time for you to bring in your pet.
